"The other star of this production is the kitchen designed by Lauren M. Nichols. It looks like a working kitchen which includes a wall phone and fully stocked cabinets. In one scene, Austin is making coffee – you can smell the coffee. In another scene, which is incredibly funny, there are toasters and Austin has made toast. Yes, you can smell the toast. Properties Designer Ivy Thomas has made sure the kitchen is complete in every way possible."

"But there’s not a moment here that does not ring true and essential, on a clever set from Lauren M. Nichols that follows the playwright’s demand that there be no expressionistic weirdness. Frankly, I was blown away by how well this play works in the here and now, how relevant it feels. "True West,” especially Corti’s “True West,” has it all going on."
-Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune
"The real star of this, for me, however, was Lauren M. Nichols and her set design. As soon as you walk into the Copley, you’re transported into a meticulously styled mid‑Century suburban house. Every detail—from period furniture to weathered appliances—evokes 1970s California tension. The realism of the set brings the characters’ Boomer-Karen breakdown into sharper relief: it’s not just décor, it’s character in its own right."
